Adult: GERD: 20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. PUD: 40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. ZES: 80 mg twice daily, up to 240 mg daily in divided doses. H. pylori eradication: 40 mg twice daily with clarithromycin 500 mg and amoxicillin 1 g or metronidazole 400 mg and clarithromycin 250 mg or tinidazole 500 mg for 7-14 days. Stress ulcer prophylaxis: 40 mg once daily. NSAID-induced ulcer: 20-40 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. Child: GERD: 1-11 years: 0.5-1 mg/kg once daily, up to 20 mg for 15 kg. Pantoprazole reduces gastric acid secretion and increases gastric pH. This leads to the healing of peptic ulcers and the relief of symptoms of GERD. It also inhibits the growth of H. pylori bacteria and enhances the efficacy of antibiotics in eradicating the infection.
